Saint-Germain loses the services of its prominent defender for months due to the "cruciate ligament"

French football club Paris Saint-Germain, burdened with injuries and suspension, announced today that its Spanish defender, Juan Bernat, has torn the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee, which will keep him out for months.

"The tests confirmed the presence of a tear in the front cruciate ligament of the left knee," said a statement by the French champion, without specifying the period of his absence.

The left-back suffered an injury in the final minutes of the match, in which his team defeated Metz with a clean goal on Wednesday, as two doctors helped him out of the field in the 86th minute after only 23 minutes of entering a substitute.

The exit of Bernat, 27, led to Saint-Germain ending the match with nine players after Abdo Diallo was sent off for receiving two yellow cards (65) and German coach Thomas Tukhil exhausted all substitutions.
