Egan Bernal leaves the Tour de France.
The Colombian, leader of Ineos and winner of the 2019 edition of the Great Loop retired on Wednesday morning, before the 17th stage announced his team from Grenoble.
Bernal, 16th in the general classification more than 19 minutes behind leader Primoz Roglic, is far from the podium after losing a lot of time in the last two stages. "We think it is wiser for him to stop," said UK team boss Dave Brailsford.
