Ireland allows limited public attendance at sporting events

Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin said today that a limited number of spectators will be allowed to attend sporting events, in line with the latest amendments to the rules in force in Ireland regarding the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

And 200 people will be allowed to attend in stadiums with a capacity exceeding five thousand spectators, while 100 people will be allowed to attend only in places with a capacity less than that.

The plans include determining the maximum number of attendees, at a later time, for large stadiums, including the "Croke Park" stadium, which can accommodate 82 thousand spectators and Aviva stadium, which can accommodate 51 thousand and 700 spectators.

Among the upcoming sporting events are the Irish national football team's matches against Wales and Finland in the European Nations League, as well as the rugby team's confrontation with its Italian counterpart on October 24.
