Barcelona begins the first steps to get rid of Suarez by signing Dutchman Depay
Dutch national soccer striker Memphis Depay is preparing to leave Lyon, France, to join Barcelona, Spain, for 25 million euros, according to the Dutch newspaper "De Telegraph" reported today.
This will be the first official step to get rid of the Uruguayan player, Luis Suarez, who was previously informed by Dutch coach Ronald Koeman that he is not included in his accounts.
The 26-year-old will join his countrymen, Frankie de Jong, and the new coach of the Catalan club, Ronald Koeman, who was the first to summon Depay to the Dutch national team while he was supervising the latter before leaving him this summer to succeed Quique Setien.
The "Telegraph" indicated that "Barcelona hopes to officially confirm the transfer and to present Depay at the Camp Nou later this week," revealing that the value of the deal will reach 25 million euros, in addition to two million other bonuses.
The newspaper considered that "the partnership between Memphis Depay and (Argentine star) Lionel Messi will constitute an exciting challenge for Koeman, since the players present their best levels when they assume a free role (in attack)."
