Badminton International Tournament Postponed after next year Participation declined one after another in Corona September 15, 18:31

The Badminton World Federation was planning to resume the international tournament, which has been suspended due to the influence of the new coronavirus, from the national / regional team competition in Denmark next month, but with a series of declines from participation mainly in Asia, next year It will be postponed after that.

The international badminton tournament was suspended at the end of March due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, but the World Badminton World Federation is holding a men's "Thomas Cup" as a team competition by country / region. The women's "Uber Cup" was scheduled to be held again next month in Denmark, Scandinavia.

However, before the deadline for registration on the 18th of this month, the World Federation has declined to participate in a series of Asian countries such as Thailand, South Korea, and Taiwan, including Indonesia, a powerful country that has won the men's tournament 13 times in the past. On the 15th, they announced that they would postpone both tournaments after next year.

On the other hand, the individual competition scheduled in Denmark in the middle of next month will be held by athletes from countries and regions where they can participate.

It was expected that the resumption of international competitions for each competition, which had been suspended due to the spread of the infection, would be a tailwind for the Tokyo Olympics, which was postponed to next year, but the World Badminton World Federation positioned it as the first match of the resumption. The postponement of the Games has reiterated the difficulty of running the Games, which involves the movement of athletes across national borders.

The Nippon Badminton Association, which was planning to dispatch athletes to team competitions, will be forced to rethink its strengthening strategy.
