Ahmed bin Mohammed directed the establishment of the Olympic Advisory Council
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, directed the establishment of the Consultative Council of the Olympic Committee, which will include a group of qualified people and experts in the Olympic movement and sports.
The council expresses its opinion and advice on aspects related to the strategies and plans designed to advance the future of the Olympic movement in the country, evaluates the various ideas and mechanisms presented by all sports federations, bodies and institutions, and selects the appropriate ones that are in line with the needs of our sports sector in all fields, whether technical or other. The Council also provides advice and consultations in what is presented to it by the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee, on aspects related to national sport related to competitive aspects, and strategies for upgrading the base of sports practice, in order to enhance the development of the national Olympic movement in general.
The Council assists the Board of Directors of the National Olympic Committee in evaluating plans and programs for the work of the Olympic and non-Olympic sports federations, with the aim of reaching the best plans and programs aimed at achieving global achievements and Olympic crowns.
The advisory board is also responsible for studying and evaluating the best international sports practices related to the Olympic movement, with the aim of benefiting from them in promoting and developing the national Olympic movement, in addition to providing advice and opinion on spreading the Olympic culture in society and promoting the culture of sports practice.
For his part, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee and Head of the Executive Office, Humaid Al Qatami, stressed the importance of this step, which carries with it many positive aspects for the Olympic movement in the UAE, including the presence of highly qualified sports bodies, which will be selected during the coming period according to different criteria.
