For the first time since 2011, Olympique de Marseille beat Paris Saint-Germain, this Sunday, September 13, at the end of the 3rd day of Ligue 1 (0-1), at the Parc des Princes.

This 98th “Classic” of the French championship also took place in a very tense atmosphere.

Nine years later, Marseille did it.

OM, which had not beaten Paris Saint-Germain since 2011, i.e. 20 matches in all competitions, finally managed to dominate its rival, this Sunday, September 13, at the Parc des Princes (0-1), at the end of the 3rd day of Ligue 1.

Without Kylian Mbappé and Mauro Icardi but with Neymar and Angel Di Maria, Paris has a second setback in as many Ligue 1 matches. The dynamic is the opposite for Olympique de Marseille which has been able to take advantage of one of its rare occasions.

Realistic Marseille

Because it is the PSG which dominated this meeting.

The French champion very quickly took control of this match with a first big opportunity for Marco Verratti who, at six meters, stumble on a Steve Mandanda author of a beautiful parade (2nd).

It was then Neymar's turn to shine, but his header did not find the frame (18th).

At the origin of these two occasions, we find the newcomer Alessandro Florenzi, very fair technically.

But while Paris controls, monopolizes the ball, Marseille opens the scoring on his first real opportunity: Florian Thauvin, behind the defense, takes a distant free kick from Dimitri Payet (31st) at the far post.

OM then leads 1-0 at the Parc des Princes after half an hour 100% Parisian.

This goal, the second in two matches for Thauvin, extinguished Paris Saint-Germain, which lost track.

Parisians get annoyed.

The meeting becomes more and more tense, which benefits Marseille.

Steve Mandanda Imperial

Returned with better intentions in the second half, PSG accelerates.

But if the Marseillais hold, they owe it to their goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.

Already decisive at the very start of the match, the French goalkeeper once again comes out on top, thanks to his legs.

First against Pablo Sarabia perfectly served by the inevitable Florenzi (57th).

Then on a strike from Neymar from the left corner of the area (60th).

However, he can do nothing on the goal of Angel Di Maria, just refused for offside (62nd).

The match gets carried away.

OM, low block, evolves against and thinks to double the stake thanks to Dario Benedetto who came into play a few seconds before.

But his goal is refused because the refereeing body considers that Thauvin, initiator of the action, is offside (63rd).

To the naked eye, the Marseillais seems to be on the same line.

This time, it is Paris which is doing well.

Paris is bogged down

PSG then sets off again for the collision but, when it is not Mandanda's leg, it is the frame which slips away to a millimeter on a tackle from Neymar upon receiving a cross from Sarabia (69th).

Paris grows but runs out of steam against the Marseillais who leave very little space and get away with it after a meeting that ended eight against nine following a general fight.

Kurzawa, Paredes, Neymar, Amavi and Benedetto were sent off in stoppage time. In all, 17 cards were distributed during this

, a record in Ligue 1 in the 21st century.

But that obviously did not prevent OM from celebrating their first victory against PSG in nine years.
