Last week, Armand Duplantis first jumped 6.07 in Lausanne and two days later 6.00 in Brussels.

Both times he tried at 6.15 - higher than anyone else done outdoors.

- I tried.

The first was the only thing that was a little close.

I thought I would get some better attempts after that but I got a little headwind and had slow legs, it was not a good combination.

There may be some better attempts next time, he told SVT Sport after the competition in Brussels last Friday.

"Great place to jump"

On Sunday, he is back in Berlin where he broke through big 2018 with European Championship gold after a magical final.

- A very special place.

It will be fun, if there is a place where I have to finish 6.15, it can be there, it is a fantastic place to jump, says Duplantis.

He gets good sparring in the competition from his friends from the World Cup podium last autumn - both Sam Kendricks and Piotr Lisek are in place.

It is clear that Berlin means a lot to the 20-year-old, who is betting on beating Sergei Bubka's 6.14 from 1994.

- Berlin ... Maybe I should not say that it "made me who I am today", but that is probably a small part.

At the European Championships in 2018, I took big steps.

I know how it works there, if there's any place I can jump high it's there.

I really like it.

Sunday's competition in Berlin is broadcast live on SVT2 and SVT Play starting at 16.30.
