The UAE Special Olympics agreed with the Swimming, Water Polo and Diving Federation to sign a memorandum of understanding, which includes the development of water games activities in the Special Olympics and giving greater opportunities to swimmers of determination with mental challenges, to train and participate in competitions.
The agreement, which will be signed tomorrow through the Zoom platform, is part of the Special Olympics' plans to work and communicate with various sports federations, as the past year witnessed many tournaments in which Special Olympics swimmers participated, in addition to developing the training staff through courses that were held remotely.
The President of the Swimming Federation, Sultan Al Samahi, confirmed that the union’s cooperation with the UAE Special Olympics during the Corona crisis has succeeded greatly, especially with regard to qualifying coaches and the training courses that have been implemented.
Al Samahi said to "Emirates Today": "The message of the Swimming Federation is to spread the sporting culture and broaden the base of practice for water sports activities in the country. Special Olympics swimmers are part of the community system for which we are working to provide the best services for it, by providing equipped facilities and qualified trainers."
