Montpellier dominated Nice and Saint-Étienne beat Strasbourg on Matchday 3 of Ligue 1, played this weekend.

Before the Classic between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille, Lyon and Bordeaux separated with a goalless draw.

Three days and already the Classic: Paris Saint-Germain receives Olympique de Marseille, Sunday evening, for the first summit of the Ligue 1 season. Before this meeting which seems more open than usual between the two teams, the favorites in European places tried to garner as many points as possible.

This is the case of Montpellier, which is quite clearly dominated its competitor Nice, Saturday afternoon (3-1), or Saint-Étienne, which disposed of Strasbourg in the evening (2-0).

Saint-Étienne has started its season well, after a failed 2019-2020 exercise.

Victorious against Lorient on the second day, Claude Puel's men continued their momentum with a victory against Strasbourg, with goals from Denis Bouanga from the penalty spot (57th) and Mahdi Camara (82nd).

Conversely, Strasbourg has not yet taken a point and remains a red lantern.

Double in Congress for Montpellier

Nice shattered and fell for the first time this season Saturday in Montpellier (3-1), led by playmaker Téji Savanier.

A goal from center-forward Gaëtan Laborde (18th) and an unprecedented double from central defender Daniel Congré (50th, 64th) overwhelmed the Azureans, completely extinct until the goal of their captain Dante (69th).

Bordeaux and Lyon opened this 3rd day with a sad 0-0.

Although dominating in large widths, the Lyonnais could not impose their offensive power on a curled up but solid Bordeaux.

In their quest for Europe next spring, Rudi Garcia's men may have lost two points in Gironde.
