Klopp is upset with the Premier League decision

Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp said he was surprised by the decision of the English Premier League to return to using three changes in matches during the next season.

During the last season, clubs were allowed a list of 20 players during matches and a maximum of five substitutions during the match to reduce fatigue during the 2019-2020 season due to the Corona virus crisis.

Despite this, the Premier League refused to follow the example of the rest of the European leagues, and returned things to what they were, with a list of 18 players and three substitutions in each match.

Klopp said: "I thought, from a logical point of view, that this year only, not forever, we will have 20 players on the list and five substitutions."

"I don't know why we should have discussed it," he added. "The whole of Europe is doing that."

Klopp continued: "It is about the well-being of the player as well as reaching the highest levels in matches for all teams. I was really surprised when I heard that the League decided otherwise."

Liverpool will kick off their title defense campaign against Leeds United in their first league match, the 2020-2021 season, on Saturday.
