In 18 matches in the Allsvenskan this season, there have been nine goals and four assists for Jesper Karlsson in Elfsborg.

This has created an interest in the young striker and now it is clear that Karlsson - who was shared second in the Allsvenskan shooting league one goal behind Christoffer Nyman in Norrköping - leaves for AZ Alkmaar.

- I am happy that everything is ready and that Elfsborg has made it possible for me to take the next step.

Now I look forward to helping the team and focus on the remaining matches in the yellow jersey.

The feelings I have for Elfsborg and everyone around the club I will have time to express on site in Borås before I move down permanently to Holland, says Jesper Karlsson to the club's website.

"Proud and happy"

The contract with AZ Alkmaar will take effect on September 18 - if the club moves on in its play-off game to the Champions League.

If not, the transition will not take place until 28 September.

Elfsborgs club manager, Stefan Andreasson:

- Today we are proud and happy both for Jesper's sake and for IF Elfsborg to once again state that we have a business and environment that means that players develop and are finally ready to take the step out into Europe.
