Yesterday, the match between Örebro and Linköping was canceled, when the LHC feared that they had been affected by the coronavirus.

It was just the latest in a series of similar cases in Swedish hockey, where SDHL begins this weekend and SHL next.

For example, hockeyallsvenska Karlskoga and Västerås have also been affected by infected players.

At least 18 players and other staff in Karlskoga were infected, while at least eight people around the A-team in Västerås tested positive.

"Occasional outbreaks"

However, the Swedish Public Health Agency does not see any particular cause for concern, and there are currently no plans to make any changes to their recommendations due to the outbreaks.

- We have seen occasional outbreaks.

But there are a lot of matches, trainings and competitions going on around Sweden all the time.

So we have not yet identified that it would pose any particular risk, so it is the general advice that applies there as well, says deputy state epidemiologist Anders Wallensten to SVT Sport.

So it's safe to play ice hockey indoors at the moment?

- Yes, we have not seen that it would pose a greater risk than other activity in society.

If it goes in the wrong direction, what does it take for FHM to change its attitude to ice hockey?

- We follow the situation all the time and if we identify risk environments, we think about what can be done about it.

But that applies to all activities in society.
