On August 1, Michaela Meijer set a Swedish record when she managed 4.83 in Norrköping.

During the Swedish Championships in Uppsala, expectations were high with an expected duel between Meijer and Angelica Bengtsson.

But then Michaela Meijer managed "only" 4.36 and on Sunday she broke out at 4.42 in Finnkampen.

"A step forward"

Tonight she looked for the record form in Ostrava during the Continental tour competition.

She went in at 4.24 and was faultless to 4.44.

In the next raise of 4.54, she tore the first attempt and then managed it in the second.

But then it stopped and she finished second in the pole vault competition.

The winner was Holly Bradshaw who managed 4.60 in the second attempt.

- I think it was a step forward even though the results do not show it.

She was much better technically today.

Now I do not know how she will compete in the future, but she may be able to build on this and bring with her the feeling in the training that is to come, says SVT Sports expert Alhaji Jeng.
