It was just under a month ago that Braekhus, after 13 years as a professional and 36 straight victories, went on his first loss.

After ten tough rounds against the American Jessica McCaskill, Braekhus lost on points and got rid of its five world champion belts.

It was then speculated whether "The First Lady of Boxing" had made its last match.

Now she is back home in Oslo and thinking about her next move.

In an interview with Norwegian VG, she talks about her thoughts on the future.

"More than just a boxer"

VG: Have you decided whether to resign?

- I have not made that decision 100 percent.

- People around me have not allowed me to be down but they have reminded me that I am so much more than just a boxer.

Has received several offers

Braekhus says that she has a contractual right to a return meeting with McCaskill.

- I will find a way forward.

I have received offers for various jobs and appearances, but first I have to make a decision about a return match against McCaskill, she says.

Should the Norwegian win such a fight, many hope to see her meet Ireland's Katie Taylor, another of the world's foremost boxers.

Taylor won, among other things, an Olympic gold and five World Cup golds as an amateur and is now undefeated as a professional with 16 straight victories and has all the big World Cup belts in his possession.

The fight was postponed

But what really went wrong before the meeting with McCaskill?

The match would have taken place from the beginning in April and Braekhus traveled to the USA already in February to start his training camp.

Then the match was canceled due to the corona pandemic and after a total of seven months of training, Braekhus felt exhausted.

- It was a very special charge.

After analyzing my symptoms and discussing this with experts, the answer is that I "peaked" the form too soon.
