Players Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood have been expelled from the England squad camp for breaching the COVID-19 security protocol in Iceland, as confirmed by England coach
Gareth Southgate
.
The English Football Association (FA) is investigating this breach, which occurred after the victory on Sunday in the England team's game in Iceland.
20-year-old Manchester City player Foden and 18-year-old Manchester United Greenwood made their international debut in the match in which England beat
Iceland 1-0
.
Southgate called the youngsters "naive" and added that they have already apologized for not complying with the coronavirus protocol.
"Two of the guys have broken the guidance on COVID (...) We had to decide very quickly that they couldn't have any interaction with the rest of the team and
couldn't train
. Given the procedures that we have to follow now, they will have to travel back to England separately, "added Southgate.
According to Icelandic media and also the Daily Mail, the two players would have received a visit from two girls at the hotel where the English team met.
England will face Denmark in a Nations League match on Tuesday.
