LG or Scheneider. A battery factory, possible alternative to the closure of Nissan Barcelona
Bosch, the German component manufacturer, has
decided to close "as soon as possible in 2021" the windshield wiper factory that it has in the town of Castellet (Barcelona) due
to its lack of viability, he says.
Although the company has started negotiations with the workers' representatives, they have shown their "total rejection" of the decision.
Company sources informed
Europa Press
that, although they have been studying the situation of the factory for a long time,
it is not possible to implement measures that improve the profitability of the wiper division
, since competition has grown by a moment in which there is a brake to the manufacture of cars worldwide.
"The original equipment business in Europe has been significantly affected," adds the firm.
“Since 2016, the acquisition of alternative businesses has been intensely promoted.
Unfortunately, the result has only shown a minimal effect on employment and, therefore, it cannot be considered a realistic alternative ”, point out from Bosch.
However,
the UGT union has recalled that the Castellet plant has endured in recent years viability plans
, regulatory files, incentivized leave and salary reductions, apart from
having reduced the workforce from 1,200 workers from 2003 to 300.
Which it shows, they say, "a total lack of involvement."
The Castellet plant was founded in 1975 as FEMSA and acquired by the Robert Bosch Group in 1978. It produces windshield wiper motors.
In addition to the 300 employees who currently work in it, Bosch employs another 8,100 people in our country.
