The Niçois had very little access to the Tour de France riders, here on August 31.

The Lyonnais should experience the same frustration on Saturday and Sunday.

Chosen by the organization of the Tour de France for the first time since 2013, Lyon, both city arrival Saturday and city departure Sunday, will taste little of the excitement of the event.

Due to the current health context linked to Covid-19, thousands of Lyonnais particularly interested in the end of the 14th stage from Clermont, with an urban route of nearly 15 kilometers and three climbs, the Duchère coast , the rise of Observance and finally the coast of Croix-Rousse, should be disappointed.

Like Nice, another large city already mobilized on the Grande Boucle on August 29 and 30, blackout panels could be installed in order to set up a closed door on certain portions of the course on Saturday.

"It is better that than no Tour de France at all", sighs one in Nice https://t.co/LA0XS7Aogf via @ 20minutes

"We have a rather special Tour de France"

On BFM Lyon, the new mayor Grégory Doucet (EELV) gave details about this device: “We will barricade the finish line, 400 m before, 400 m after.

This arrival will unfortunately be done behind closed doors.

On other tracks, earlier in the city, and of course outside of Lyon, there will be the possibility of seeing the runners pass, obviously while respecting barrier gestures and physical distancing ”.

The arrival at the Lafayette bridge, and not at Gerland as during the 2013 edition, will therefore take place in a certain popular anonymity.

"We have a rather special Tour de France this year", agrees Grégory Doucet.

Lyon cycling enthusiasts will “a little” realize this on Saturday.
