Fernando Alonso's next car in Formula 1 will neither be called Renault nor will it wear the yellow and black colors that the team is wearing right now.
In 2021, Renault will be called the Alpine F1 Team, it will feature a Renault E-Tech hybrid engine and its car will carry the national colors of France: red, white and blue.
"Alpine is a beautiful, powerful and vibrant brand that makes its fans smile," Renault CEO
Luca de Meo said
in a statement.
"We are bringing a dream brand alongside the biggest names. Alpine will also bring its values to the F1 paddock: elegance, ingenuity and fearlessness," the statement added.
At a loss, Renault, under the leadership of De Meo, had announced a new organizational structure focused on major brands rather than geographic regions, with Renault F1 team principal
Cyril Abiteboul
overseeing one of the four divisions.
The carmaker Alpine thus enters Formula 1 with a car that will have hybrid engines from Renault, which will maintain its E-Tech name.
With the signing of the 'Concorde Agreements', with the budgets capped and the implementation of new technical regulations from 2022, Renault seeks to achieve new successes with its new colors.
