- I'm very happy.

It was heavy the first half hour then it became easier.

It was fantastic to run so far and win, says Hassan in SVT's broadcast.

It was a strange sight to see Hassan stretch his hands in the air on a long side while fire was sprayed from cannons on the inner court.

Without an audience in an empty stadium.

The sprint started at the minute shot

When there was one minute left to run, a shot was fired to draw attention to the runners and Hassan then sprinted away from the world record holder in marathon Brigid Kosgei who was also far below the previous record.

10000 meters was passed at 31.53 and then you were 31 seconds below the world record pace, then with the hare Sheila Chelangat in the lead.

She got off after 12,000 meters.

Then Hassan and Kosgei took turns.

Sarah Lahti was one of 13 runners who got a place in the prestigious race.

She was rotated twice.

- Half an hour went well then it went hard but I think I kept it together well and am satisfied, says Sarah Lahti who set a Swedish record.

Ethiopian Dire Tune had the previous world record with 18517 meters from Ostrava in 2008.
