Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees Donny van de Beek as the perfect reinforcement for Manchester United.
The Orange-international will make the switch from Ajax to the English record champion for at least 39 million euros, both clubs announced on Wednesday.
"Donny has all the technical skills necessary to excel in this team. On top of that, he also has the personality needed to succeed at Manchester United," Solskjaer said on the Manchester United website.
"His ability to see spaces, sense of timing and ability to read the game complete the qualities we already have in midfield. We now have more options in that position."
At Manchester United, Van de Beek has to compete with, among others, Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Fred, who together formed the midfield in the last game of last season, the lost game against Sevilla in the semi-finals of the Europa League.

'Donny's performance was excellent'
Van de Beek played 175 games for Ajax, scoring 41 goals and providing 34 assists.
With the team from Amsterdam, he won the national title (2019), the Johan Cruijff Shield (2019) and the KNVB Cup (2019).
He also played as a substitute in the lost final of the Europa League of 2017, in which Manchester United were too strong with 0-2.
"Donny's performance in the Eredivisie and Europe has been excellent in recent years," said Solskjaer.
"We look forward to working with him."
