On Tuesday, German star Viktoria Rebensburg announced that she is ending her career after 13 years.

- It is with a heavy heart that I made this decision after much deliberation in recent weeks, she writes on social media.

Last season, she came ninth in the overall World Cup, but was injured.

- After my injury this spring and during the training on snow for the past two weeks, I have realized that I will not be able to reach my top level again, she writes.

During her career, she has, among other things, 19 victories in the World Cup and 49 podium places, one Olympic gold in giant slalom and two World Cup golds in the same discipline.

Just the giant slalom has been her best discipline over the years and she has, among other things, won the giant slalom cup three times.

- I want to thank my family, friends and supporters for this wonderful time and all the support, writes Viktoria Rebensburg.
