The draw ceremony for the two competitions: the President's Cup and the First Division League for the 2020-2021 sports season will take place today at seven o'clock in the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, during which the results of the pre-season 2018-2019 will be approved, as a result of the decision to cancel the results of the 2019 season. -2020, due to the "Corona" pandemic.

The draw ceremony will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Honorary President of the Football Association.

The Football Association announced that the ceremony will start with the draw for the preliminary qualifying rounds for the President's Cup for first-class clubs, where the participating clubs (11 clubs) will be divided into two groups: the first includes (6 clubs), and the second (5 clubs), and the champion of each group will qualify for the role. The 16th.

Lottery drawing method

The clubs are divided into two groups, after dividing them into three levels, according to their results in the First Division League for the 2019/2018 season, and the two clubs who won the 13th and 14th places of the Arab Gulf League for the same season as follows:

First level: UAE and Dibba Al Fujairah.

Level Two: Al-Orouba, Al-Hamriya, Dibba Al-Hisn, and Masafi.

The third level: Al Dhaid, Al Arabi, Al Taawon, Masfoot, and Al Bataih.

According to the mechanism approved by the Competitions Committee, the clubs from each level will be distributed by lot to the two groups, so that first the name of the club is drawn, then the group is determined, and finally the club number in the group and the match schedule are determined.

The qualifiers will be held in a one-round league system, on the stadiums of the clubs mentioned first in the match schedule, starting from September 25th to next October 24th.

The first-division draw

After that, the draw for the first division league, which starts next October 30, will be drawn in the back and forth league system, where the draw will be conducted between the participating clubs (11 clubs), and it will be placed on the match schedule, through numbers from 1 to 11, noting that the club, which He (number 7) will be exempt from playing the first week's matches.

After the draw is over, and the first week’s matches are determined, the club’s numbers are settled for the remaining weeks of the league, noting that the matches will be held on the stadiums of the clubs mentioned first in the match schedule.

President's Cup

As for the 16th round of the President's Cup competition, it will take place by a one-time knockout system, in all stages of the tournament, starting from the round of 16, and a single draw will be held to determine the parties to the matches, from the round of 16 until the end of the tournament.

According to the tournament list, the Arab Gulf Professional League champion for the 2019/2018 season (Sharjah) will be placed at the top of the match schedule, and the President's Cup champion in the same season (Shabab Al-Ahly) will be placed at the end of the schedule. A draw will be held to accommodate the remaining (12) clubs from Arab Gulf League clubs for the season 2021/2020, on numbers 2 to 15 in the match schedule.

The qualifiers of the primer

The two teams that qualify for the preliminary rounds of the President's Cup for first-class clubs (the first group champion and the second group champion) are placed on the remaining two numbers in the match schedule, after 14 clubs in the professional league are housed.

On the other hand, the two semi-final matches are played on neutral stadiums determined by the Competitions Committee, and the Football Association Board of Directors decides the stadium on which the final match will be held, upon the recommendation of the committee.

Match times

The Competitions Committee has set the dates for the matches, so that the round of sixteen matches will be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, corresponding to: 19, 20 and 21 November, and the quarter-final matches, on Monday and Tuesday, corresponding to 28 and 29 next December, while the two semi-final matches will be held on Friday January 15 2021, provided that the final match will be held on Sunday May 9, 2021, and the Competitions Committee may amend the dates for the tournament rounds, as it deems appropriate.

Al Dhaheri: The trophy carries a special dear for athletes

The Secretary-General of the Football Association, Mohamed Al Dhaheri, confirmed the completion of all arrangements for the draw ceremony, which will be held according to precautionary measures, in order to preserve public safety, as attendance will be limited to officials of the Federation, the Competitions Committee, and representatives of health authorities from the first line of defense, who will make the drawing .

The Secretary-General said: “We are always keen to produce our competitions in the required and ideal way from the start, especially the President’s Cup competition, because it carries a special pride for athletes in general, and football fans in the country in particular, as it is not only a football tournament but a sports carnival. And social, it is held annually ».

It is noteworthy that the draw ceremony will be broadcast live, via Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah Sports channels, as well as via a video communication system with club representatives.

The First Division League begins next October 30th, and will be held on a home-and-away system, with the participation of 11 clubs.
