In the final, Jonatan Hellvig and David Åhman defeated the French duo Aye / Gauthier-Rat 2-1. 18-year-olds Hellvig and Åhman got off to a bad start and lost the first set 18-21 but then came the turnaround.
The Swedish talents played out their full register and won the second set 21-17. After 15-9 in the arbitration set, Sweden's first World Tour gold was secured.
Since before, Sweden has "only" won silver medals on the women's and men's side.
In the autumn, Hellvig and Åhman, then 17 years old, took bronze in the world tour competition in Doha, Qatar, and then became the first Swedish men's team to take a medal in a world tour competition.
