When Damkronorna gathered on Wednesday for the first time this season, there were a couple of debutants in the squad.

One of these was HV71's only 17-year-old forward Thea Johansson.

Three U18 World Cups

Johansson, however, despite his young age, has a lot of routine. She has played three U18 World Cups and already made her debut four seasons ago in the SDHL.

And now, for the first time, she has taken a place in Damkronorna, and is hailed by both teammates and coaches.

- She is very promising, of course. So it's fun to take her out here to this environment. She has done very well in the U18 national team. She is curious and very curious and has a lot of good tools in her toolbox. So she will be exciting to follow, says national team captain Ulf Lundberg to SVT Sport.

What kind of tool is it?

- She has a drive. She has an understanding of the game that I like to see.

"A very lovely girl"

Her coach in HV71, Joakim Engström, describes her as an energy bundle and an energy spreader who he believes in the future can become team captain in Damkronorna.

And forward Michelle Löwenhielm, who is also a member of Damkronorna, agrees.

- She is a very lovely girl who works well. She is a very hard working player with good skating. It will be exciting to see her here and how she can develop in this environment, she says.

How good can she be, if we look a few years ahead?

- Super good! Wait, just ...

"Always very nervous"

Johansson himself was happy after his first training with the national team, but admitted that it was special.

- It's always very nervous about things like this. I remember when I did my first U18 training, it was the same. But it's fun to be up and running, she said.

How do you think it went?

- It was a bit bumpy in the beginning. But you get started.

Hoping for mathcer against Finland

During the camp in Skövde, due to the corona pandemic, there are no matches against other countries. But, unless the world situation puts a stop to it, in November there will be three international matches against Finland. Then Thea Johansson hopes to make her first three A-national matches.

- If I continue to fight, I absolutely hope so, and that I really show what I stand for here - and that I do not make too many big mistakes. But you also have to do that sometimes. But that is my goal, she says.
