Therese Johaug is usually a physical phenomenon, but this summer she has even trained too much. This meant that she missed the roller ski races in Toppidrettsveka and she still does not train as usual.

- The total load has become too great this summer, quite simply, she says to NRK and continues:

- You just have to learn from what you have been through and I get a little annoyed with myself because I did what I did. I have to look ahead and see what situation I'm in.

Johaug made an effort to run the 10,000-meter race at Bislett on June 11 and once there she did well. She still does not think it was the big culprit this summer.

- I trained a lot in July and felt in very good shape. Then I ended the crowd period and went on a "vacation" to Lofoten. There were quite a few hikes up and down for mountain peaks. I felt that the load on my legs became too great and it settled muscularly just above the knees, she says.

It was after three straight sessions where the Norwegian got lactic acid at a heart rate level that is usually not a problem that Johaug realized that she needed to take a break.

- You get frustrated when you feel a feeling you have not felt for a long time. But at the same time, I know that it is not a crisis, she says.
