When Hiromu Inada, 69, put his TV career on the shelf, he quickly found a new job. He started running and swimming, bought a new bike and a year later he completed his first triathlon. Shortly afterwards, his wife passed away and Inada's passion for Ironman turned to obsession.

In 2015, the then 83-year-old Hiromu did his best to run to the finish line as the oldest participant ever in the classic Ironman race in Hawaii, but when he crossed the finish line he was too slow to register his time, he missed a paltry five seconds.

The following year he made another attempt and this time he passed the qualifying period and was awarded a Guinness Book of Records award.

Barely three weeks before her 86th birthday (2018), Inada completed another Ironman in Hawaii, thus erasing her old record.

The now 87-year-old Japanese now trains every day to be ready when the next Ironman can be completed and there is only one thing in sight - a new world record.
