In the NBA, WNBA, MLB and MLS, matches were postponed during the night in protest of police violence against blacks in the United States. The latest notable case was when Jacob Blake was shot in the back with seven shots by police and became paralyzed.

In the NHL, the Boston-Tampa Bay and Dallas-Colorado games were still played as planned. It is now criticized by several players.

- The NHL is always last on the ball in these matters. It's sad and a little cracking for me, says the Minnesota defender to ESPN.

"It's terribly insulting to see as a black man in the NHL how little the league does or pays attention to these issues," San Jose Sharks Evander Kane wrote on Twitter.

Colorado's Swedish team captain Gabriel Landeskog has also spoken.

- This has been going on for far too long in this country and change is needed, he says to The Athletic.
