Today, the SHL had an extra convener meeting due to the corona pandemic. After the Swedish Public Health Agency proposed a ceiling of 500 people, SHL has now determined that the season will start on 19 September. On the other hand, it is proposed to change the game schedule so that all teams will have the same number of home matches in September.

- We have great respect for the seriousness of the situation and the challenges that follow during a global pandemic and appreciate the good dialogue with the relevant authorities, begins Michael Marchal, CEO SHL.

Not adapted

Michael Marchal, on the other hand, does not think the proposal of a maximum of 500 people is adapted for elite sports.

- In the audience protocol Swedish ice hockey jointly developed and presented to authorities and ministries, we believe that we can take responsibility for events for a larger audience than today's proposal based on the respective arenas' conditions, he says and continues:

- That it will have great financial significance for the clubs, I think we all understand, but such a decision can not be made from finances but must be decided from the security aspect, and there we believe through the work with the audience protocol and dialogue with the authorities that we have capacity for more. The good dialogue and work will therefore continue together with the actors concerned.
