In serious financial difficulties after the coronavirus pandemic, the Malaga club (2nd Spanish division) on Monday launched a collective dismissal procedure to "get the club out of this complicated financial situation". "Today (Monday), the management of Malaga CF communicated to the professional football team their intention to initiate a collective dismissal procedure," the Andalusian club said in a statement.

“The club have been forced to make tough decisions in recent months. In this context, the restructuring will directly affect the men's first team, ”he added. "This new restructuring is in line with the economic plan which aims to get the blanquiazul club out of the complicated financial situation in which it continues to be immersed, despite recent efforts", regretted Malaga.

“The Malaga CF is obliged to take this step for the good of the entity and hopes that the subscribers and supporters of Malaga will understand and support this new effort, the sole objective of which is to create a bearable and competitive structure, to make at Malaga CF his lost enthusiasm ”, justified the management.

Target savings of 5 million euros

According to the Spanish press, a dozen players must reduce their salaries down by around 80 to 90%, or leave the club. Two of them, David Lomban and captain Adrian Gonzalez, have already started negotiations, according to Marca .

With this restructuring, combined with a few transfers, the club's goal is to save five million euros to finally get into the nails of the financial requirements of LaLiga, the body that manages professional football in Spain. Malaga finished the season in 14th place (53 pts) in the Spanish Second Division, with 11 wins, 20 draws and 11 losses in 42 games.
