The Swedish wall team was in windy weather for almost the entire past season. The recharging, with last summer's conflict with the union over the herding organization, was not optimal. It made the work start too late, says Petter Myhlback, who took over as election manager after Urban Nilsson this spring.

- Yes, it was messy. Possibly it had a significance at the beginning of the season, but no longer into the season. The adjustments that were made in the staff group, in the wall team, were quite unnecessary because it is about a small competence group in Sweden, and then you have to nurture that group with respect, says Petter Myhlback.

Nervous skiers

During the season, a number of herding mistakes occurred which meant that several skiers could not help but express their frustration to the outside world. Something that surprised because there is a tradition among skiers not to publicly criticize their ramparts.

Ebba Andersson in the press hem after one of the winter races:

- It is frustrating when you feel that you do not have the same conditions to go fast.

Jens Burman after a election miss:

- It starts to happen a little too many times.

Now the Swedish wall team is looking forward to a new season and after evaluations from last winter, Petter Myhlback states the opposite of the feeling in Burman and the others:

- We normally had many dropouts during a season. But last winter, the riders became nervous that it would happen again because they did not become involved in the improvement work that was constantly happening. We were a little bad at informing the riders. If they receive information, it creates security and there is no frustration. That's how it will be this winter, says Myhlback.

The boss takes the snack

Petter Myhlback emphasizes that there will be mistakes with the herding also this winter and then he wants clear routines when it happens:

- Then it is the election manager's responsibility to take that discussion with the media. It is not the responsibility of the riders.

TT: Does that mean that the skiers are not allowed to talk to the media about bad skis?

- They are not gagged. Of course they get to talk to the media about their skis. There are people with adrenaline after the race, and if they get a microphone under their face if they have had bad skis, there may be a few words. But if I may wish how they should behave in the future in this matter, I want the rider, when the affect has settled after a miss, to come to me and his rampart. Then we talk about it and then I tell it to the media.

Difficult in Oberstdorf

The highlight of the winter is the World Cup in Oberstdorf at the turn of the month February-March. The German ski resort is widely known as a challenging place to wallow in.

- There was no success for us last winter (in the World Cup). Now we should have learned from those mistakes, says Myhlback and emphasizes the advantage of the star wall Perry Olsson going from Norway to Sweden.

-Now we have him in our team, he who was on the other side and succeeded in connection with our failure. Perry Olsson means a lot to us.
