The defeat of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on Sunday evening delighted a large part of Marseille supporters. The atmosphere was high in the Old Port, where the party should last a good part of the night.

Marseille fans exploded with joy on Sunday evening after the defeat of Paris Saint-Germain, their historic rival, against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final. "It's a day of celebration, they lost," exclaimed an Olympian supporter seated on the terrace of a pub in the Old Port of Marseille. "I love sport and football, I would have been happy for them if they had won, but I'm happy that Bayern won." "It's incredible, we were only expecting that in Marseille," exclaimed another OM supporter at the microphone of Europe 1.

From the kick-off, massed in front of the big screens of the bar Le British, on the Old Port, the supporters, some of whom were dressed in OM jerseys with the slogan "Fuck PSG", booed the Parisian team while Bayern's actions were encouraged by applause. It took them until the second half to exult at the first goal of the Germans, knocking over chairs and sending goblets of beer to the sky before singing hostile chants against their rivals. Before midnight, several crowd movements were observed.

A contested and repealed decree

The Parisian supporters had been invited by the police headquarters to remain discreet and not to wear ostentatious signs. The prefect of police had initially prohibited by order to the supporters to wear the jersey of the PSG around the Old Port to avoid possible altercations, before reversing his decision Friday in the face of the "incomprehension" caused by his decision.

The rivalry remains strong between supporters of the two clubs, those of OM boast of being "forever" the first winners of the Champions League in 1993. Some take a dim view of being joined by their "enemy "on the charts.
