Luis Enrique announced today the list of 24 called up for the UEFA Nations League matches that Spain will play against Germany and Ukraine , the first in Stuttgart on September 3 and the second on September 6, still without a venue.
The coach, in his first call-up after his return to the national team bench, has called in several young promises of Spanish football , especially in attack, trying to rejuvenate the squad and reward the good season of some footballers.
The chosen ones are:
Goalkeepers : David De Gea, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Unai Simón
Defenders : Jesús Navas, Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Pau Torres, Diego Llorente, José Gayá, Sergio Reguilón, Eric García
Midfielders : Fabián Ruiz, Thiago Alcántara, Sergio Busquets, Rodri, Mikel Merino, Dani Olmo, Óscar Rodríguez
Forwards : Rodrigo Moreno, Mikel Oyarzabal, Adama Traoré, Marco Asensio, Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres.
The debut of Ansu Fati , who will turn 18 in October, draws attention , the call to Eric García , City defender, ex Barça, only 19 years old; the presence of Ferran Torres , 20, signed by Guardiola's team just a few weeks ago; and the confidence in footballers who have done well this year, such as Unai Simón, Mikel Merino, Dani Olmo and Óscar Rodríguez .
Of the list, only Jesús Navas, Sergio Ramos and Sergio Busquets exceed thirty, while other veterans maintain their position, such as De Gea, Carvajal or Thiago .
Luis Enrique has left out some Atlético de Madrid players who seemed fixed until now, such as Álvaro Morata, Saúl Ñíguez or Koke , and also Zarra from La Liga, Gerard Moreno . Others, like Iñigo Martínez, are injured.
