Due to covid-19, the British open is the first major for this year on the women's side. But when it was time for the first round, the players were treated to really bad weather. The one who coped best with the strong wind and rain was Amy Olson, from the USA, who went minus four. The best of the Swedes were Anna Nordqvist and Daniela Holmqvist who are in joint fourth place after they went on par with 71 strokes during the first round.

- It was really tough conditions as it was questionable and the wind was quite strong. It was tough, but it went pretty okay it felt like. I am happy with the day, says Daniela Holmqvist to SVT Sport and continues:

- The first nine was played quite tough because it was in the wind and the last nine was more tailwind. It was mostly trying to be strong mentally and play as stable as I could. There are many rounds left, but today it felt good.

"Keep the mood up"

Tomorrow the British open continues and it seems to continue to be tough conditions with even more rain.

- It will be tough the rest of the week. I will now just continue according to the game plan and try to play as simple as possible and try to keep the mood up (laughs).
