With the victory last time, Tampa Bay had three chances to beat Columbus and advance to the Stanley Cup quarterfinals.

They took that chance - but not without problems.

Changed shape

The team took an early two-goal lead, through two goals in the space of 61 seconds.

But the match changed shape completely. Halfway into the first period, Columbus reduced, when Alexander Wennberg behind goal played forward Nick Foligno who put 1-2.

Bjorkstrand expanded

In the second period, Columbus then took over in total, and went up to 3-2, via, among other things, a goal by the aforementioned Wennberg.

When Oliver Bjorkstrand then almost halfway into the third period put 4-2, many probably thought it was clear, but after Kevin Shattenkirk reduced two and a half minutes later, Tampa got new energy.

Skating receipt

They then had a lot of puck in the offensive zone - and with 1.38 left to play, the equalizer also came. A pass from Brayden Point hit Anthony Cirelli's skate and went into goal for 4-4.

The last time there was a transfer between the teams, it was an islet that was not decided until the fifth overtime period. Now it did not last as long.

Point decided

5.11 into the period, the hill Vladislav Gavrikov missed a pass in his own zone. The puck instead went to Nikita Kucherov, who recorded to Brayden Point in front of goal. Point made a nice pull and then pulled the puck over Andrei Vasilyevsky in Columbus' goal.

Tampa Bay thus advanced to the quarterfinals, and at the same time took revenge for the historic failure last season. Then Tampa, as the first regular season winner ever, lost the round of 16 against Columbus with 0-4 in matches.
