Invited Tuesday by "Culture Media", the journalist and former boss of Canal + Michel Denisot wished "all the happiness in the world" to Téléfoot, the channel of Mediapro, which is becoming the new major broadcaster of French football. "They are eagerly awaited," he notes.

INTERVIEW

It's the big day for Téléfoot. Four days before the resumption of Ligue 1, the Mediapro channel, the new major broadcaster of French football, is launching its subscription campaign on Monday. But this newcomer to the pay sports television market in France will have to face significant competition, while the most important football competitions for the 2020-2021 season are split between several channels. Guest Tuesday of Culture Media , on Europe 1, the former director of the Canal + group Michel Denisot delivered his analysis on this competition, and notes that Téléfoot is already under the spotlight: "They are eagerly awaited.

"I wish them all the happiness in the world," said the former presenter of the Grand Journal. "It's great to start a chain, I've experienced this many times in my life." But, recalls Michel Denisot, Téléfoot will have to face "strong competition in the face (...), with experienced channels".

"We have to strip the production a bit"

More generally, Michel Denisot is intrigued by the arrival of this new actor. "It's going to be interesting to follow and to see the evolution of the treatment of football," he said. Besides, this experienced observer of the world of football has some ideas from the viewer to change the way matches are broadcast. "I think we have to strip the production and the comments a bit", explains the journalist, who judges that currently, "there are too many statistics which intervene", as well as "too many cameras".

Michel Denisot would like to see him "simplify the retransmission, so that the game is readable, rather than showing the richness of the production".
