Now it's win or lose that applies to Arizona, as the score is 3-1 to Colorado in the best of seven games. And it will be a real uphill after the 7-1 loss.
But even though Colorado has so far played convincingly in the NHL bubble in Edmonton, the team takes nothing for granted.
- I think that no matter how you win, you have to be hungry before the next match. We do not take anything for granted, but think we will have to fight in the next game, says Nathan MacKinnon, who made two assists for Colorado.
Football wide side inColorado took a firm grip on the game early on, although it took until the second half of the first period before the goals began to fall in.
Matt Nieto put 1-0 after 14 minutes played. Nieto passed Matt Calvert and then got back the puck that bounced on the skate side and in behind Darcy Kuemper in the Arizona goal. At the post - match press conference, Nieto was asked if he liked playing football.
- I played a little at school, but when I had not scored in an entire semester I quit, he replied with a laugh.
Goalkeeper change in thirdNazem Kadri fixed both 2-0 and 3-0 to Colorado before the first period break. Arizona reduced to 4-1 in the middle of the second period, but it did not help much.
- It was a total crash. It looked like some of our guys had never played before, says Arizona coach Rick Tocchet.
Darcy Kuemper in the Arizona goal conceded four goals on 22 shots before being replaced by Antti Raanta in the third period, who in turn conceded three more pucks.
Gabriel Landeskog made two assists and André Burakovsky one for Colorado.
