Before the premature end of the last Pro D2 championship at the beginning of March, Perpignan was Colomiers' runner-up. The two teams meet again on Friday when the new season opens. As the Catalan club hoped, the Aimé-Giral stadium will be able to accommodate 8,000 people. The USAP announced on Monday that it had obtained a waiver from the prefecture of Pyrénées-Orientales, without which the gauge would have remained limited to 5,000 people, in these times of coronavirus.

"We wanted to thank all the supporters present on Friday for their exemplary behavior, which allowed us to obtain this authorization," tweeted the club. Friday, after the cancellation of a friendly match against Carcassonne because of a positive Covid-19 case in the Aude formation, an internal opposition had been organized in Aimé-Giral.

The @ Prefet66 officially announced that we will be able to welcome 8000 spectators at Aimé Giral for @ColomiersRugby - 08/21 !! We would like to thank all the supporters present on Friday for their exemplary behavior, which enabled us to obtain this authorization. pic.twitter.com/Bz1nMSmFwh

Other sports clubs have not had the same success as the USAP in their request. In Ligue 1 football, Marseille, Bordeaux and Nantes have seen their request rebutted.
