Cecilia Braekhus had gone 36 games in her professional career without losing. In the 37th, she had the chance to beat Joe Louis' old record when she was able to defend her world title in welterweight for the 26th time in a row.

That still did not happen. Jessica McCaskill won after a majority decision with the numbers 95-95, 97-93, 97-94.

The Norwegian hit with more strokes than her opponent and was also more accurate, but in the decisive situations the American three years younger was better.

Braekhus did not protest against the verdict when it was announced but had a smile on his face and applauded his opponent.

The Norwegian, who took her first world title in 2009, is now losing all her championship belts.
