On Saturday, the day after Petter Northug told social media that Norwegian police found cocaine in his home, the cycling team Uno-X chose to break their agreement with Northug. For 47-year-old Anders Aukland, who uses Northug's glasses, however, it is not an option.

- What happened is first and foremost very comforting. Petter is both a friend and a partner. In this case, it is difficult to say anything positive about what he has done and to identify with his values, but for me it will be completely wrong to distance oneself from him now, Aukland says to NRK.

The long-distance veteran, who has Olympic and World Cup gold on his merit list, admits, however, that he thought a lot about his collaboration with Northug after the news came out yesterday.

- But I decided pretty quickly that I want to continue to support him. Petter needs support and help, not that people distance themselves from him.

SMS contact with Northug

On Friday night, Aukland also sent a text message to Northug and received a short reply back.

- I hope and believe that he does something positive out of this and that he can overcome the problems he obviously has.

It was during yesterday that Petter Northug told that Norwegian police found cocaine in his home. Prior to that, the ski profile had been stopped by police during a speed check after driving 168 kilometers per hour on a 110 road.

"I have made a big mistake. I drove way too fast and was even taken to the emergency room for a blood test. In addition, the police found a small amount of drugs in my home. It's cocaine ", Northug wrote on social media yesterday.
