After passing 5.60 easily in the first attempt, Armand Duplantis encountered patrol at 5.70. After two demolitions, "Mondo" finally succeeded in the third attempt and it was a noticeably relieved Duplantis that landed in the carpet.

At 5.80, the 20-year-old was left alone in the competition and demanded the bar of six meters, a height he has not been able to do since February. Even at six meters, Duplantis tore twice. With a determined look, Armand Duplantis attacked the crossbar and managed by a margin, thus raising his own world best of the year by six centimeters.

- With air too! What a hope he makes, says Alhaji Jeng, athletics expert.

Duplantis then claimed the bar at 6.15, world record outdoors. But the two interrupted attempts before the Swede tore with the narrow legs and was never really close to getting over.
