Norway starts the Nations League against Austria on 4 September. However, the preparations are different due to the corona pandemic.

The Norwegian national team has not been able to do a thorough scouting of the opponents.

- We have been careful and follow the decisions of the Norwegian authorities. Our assessment was not to send "spies" to countries where the risk of infection is high. Our staff can be infected and bring the infection here. We did not want to risk it, says Per Joar Hansen, assistant national team captain in Norway, to VG.

"It has been a dilemma"

- It has been a dilemma, both ethically and morally. How important is a football match? We chose to stay at home. We have to live with the fact that we have not been allowed to see our opponents "live".

Lars Lagerbäck, the national team captain for Norway, says that he has never seen more football than during the pandemic. He has spent time at his parents' farm and watched football.

- I've never seen so much football. I have even seen matches in the OBOS league (the second highest league in Norway), says Lagerbäck according to VG.

Playing for a European Championship ticket in October

He hopes to enter Norway again on August 20. On the 24th of August, the next national team squad will be presented.

- We hope to be able to choose freely from the 35 players that are relevant. But we do not know. There may be limitations that make it problematic.

On October 8, Norway will play the playoffs against Serbia, in the pot is a ticket to the European Championships.
