When Marc Márquez called his representative, Emilio Alzamora, and Emilio Alzamora called Honda, everyone already knew that this time they would have to act differently. On Monday morning the 3rd, when he opened the garden door to go to his dogs, the reigning MotoGP champion broke the titanium plate that had just been placed on his right humerus and even before notifying his physiotherapist, Carlos García, current roommate, the pilot admitted that his return to the World Championship would no longer be so fast. The attempt to run in Jerez had been a mistake, in the gym he had forced too much and, in the end, the surgery did not withstand such demands.

After the second operation at the Dexeus Hospital by Dr. Xavier Mir, Márquez, Alzamora and Honda drew up a plan in which they practically renounced the current season. This time they would not expose the rehabilitation on social networks - a fact that they analyzed as a mistake - and this time they would not force to run more races. The return would be on September 13 at Misano, although then Fabio Quartararo had a 100-point advantage.

But something changed in the last few days. First, as was the case with the previous intervention, the Honda leader's sensations with his shoulder improved a lot in just a few recovery sessions. And secondly, Sunday's Brno race was a demonstration for everyone involved that another season is possible. Not only did Quartararo, Maverick Viñales and Andrea Dovizioso fail, Álex Rins also finished fourth, a driver who suffered an accident to his right shoulder the same weekend as Márquez. Both the current champion and his team began to haunt the idea and the next few days will be decisive to know if they will carry it out.

As Honda announced yesterday through its manager, Alberto Puig, Márquez will not be at the Austrian circuit of Spielberg this Sunday, but it is not ruled out for the team that he will reach the next race, on Sunday 23, on the same track. This time the protocol will be different, the rider will only travel if he knows for sure that he can run, there will be no wasted effort, but if he feels prepared in his exercises, he will return to get on his Honda.
