Gasset, 66, had already passed through Bordeaux as assistant to Laurent Blanc from 2007 to 2010. The former Saint-Etienne coach signed for two seasons. Former Gironde defender Alain Roche, 52, has been appointed sports director.
Sousa, 49, arrived in Gironde in March 2019, had expressed desires elsewhere at the beginning of the summer because of broken promises, differences with his management and an upcoming austerity cure imposed by the majority shareholder King Street.
