FC Twente won the friendly match against Fortuna Sittard on Monday. The Overijsselaars were 2-1 too strong for the Limburgers in-house.

FC Twente ran out to a 2-0 lead in the opening phase of the second half through goals from Giorgi Aburjania and Daan Rots, after which Fortuna returned slightly in the final phase thanks to a goal from Martin Angha.

The game started ten minutes later, because Fortuna only wanted to leave the hotel after they were informed about the corona tests at FC Twente. The visitors refused to take action if a player or staff member was found positive.

FC Twente is still unbeaten under the new trainer Ron Jans, who is looking for rehabilitation after the failure at FC Cincinnati. He won 3-1 against Excelsior'31 on his unofficial debut as the Tukkers in charge on Friday.

Prior to the start of the Eredivisie, FC Twente still practices against Feyenoord, Go Ahead Eagles and FC Emmen. Fortuna, which suffered the first defeat after victories over RKSV Bekkersveld (9-1) and FC Dordrecht (2-1), is still taking on PEC Zwolle.

FC Twente, which finished 14th in the prematurely ended last season, and Fortuna, which finished 16th, will play against each other in the first round of the Eredivisie on September 12.
