Många pekade då finger mot landsmannen Dylan Groenewegen, som på tv-bilderna kan ses lämna sin bana och tvinga in Jakobsen mot stängslet.
He (Groenewegen) should be imprisoned. It is a criminal behavior ", wrote Patrick Lefevere, stable manager in Jakobsen's team Deceuninck-Quick Step.
Now Dylan Groenewegen talks about the incident, for which he takes full responsibility.
- It is a competition and my mistake was to leave my track. I could never have foreseen that it would end like this, now I can only hope for a quick recovery for Fabio, says a tearful Dylan Groenewegen.
The 23-year-old Jakobsen woke up from his coma last Friday, two days after the accident.
