Primoz Roglic is lyrical about the way Jumbo-Visma has manifested itself in the Tour de l'Ain in recent days. The Slovenian won the three-day stage race and is joined by two teammates in the top five of the final classification.
"We are positively surprised that we are already as strong as a team", said Roglic after the final stage he won on the Jumbo-Visma site. "After such a long break, you never know where you stand exactly, but we have already shown that we are at a high level."
The thirty-year-old Slovenian finished second on Friday in the first stage and took the victory and the lead in the classification on Saturday in the first mountain stage. Roglic's final victory was no longer in danger in the final stage on Sunday. Partly thanks to his teammates, he won the third stage by trumping Egan Bernal.
"It was a tough day, with the fast pace and the long climbs. But the whole team has done a fantastic job showing how strong we are. I am glad I managed to finish it again", Roglic said.

'Results will come naturally this way'
In the final classification, the leader of Jumbo-Visma eventually finished with a lead of 18 seconds on closest attacker Bernal and 28 counts on Nairo Quintana. With Steven Kruijswijk and George Bennett, two more riders from Jumbo-Visma finished in the top five in addition to Roglic.
The Tour de l'Ain was the first real preparatory race for the Tour de France (29 August-20 September) in which Jumbo-Visma and Team INEOS competed against each other. Next week, the Critérium du Dauphiné will follow as the last test for the Tour de France.
Despite the dominance of Jumbo-Visma in the Tour de l'Ain, Roglic does not want to cheer too early in the run-up to the Tour. "This was the first game in a long time, so we have to keep trying hard. Then the results will come naturally."
