Deceuninck-Quick-Step ended an emotional Tour of Poland on Sunday with double success. Italian Davide Ballerini sprinted to victory in the last stage and Remco Evenepoel secured the overall victory.
The 25-year-old Ballerini was the strongest in the bunch sprint after 188 kilometers from Zakopane, but Kraków. The German Pascal Ackermann finished second and the Italian Alberto Dainese sprinted to third place.
Evenepoel finished safely in the belly of the peloton. The twenty-year-old Belgian made a big impression on Saturday by driving the competition in the queen stage at almost two minutes.
The top talent this year won every round where he started. Before the corona break he was the best in the Tour of San Juan and the Tour of the Algarve and more than a week ago he finished first in the Tour of Burgos.
The Tour of Poland started on Wednesday with a terrible crash by Deceuninck-Quick Step sprinter Fabio Jakobsen. The Dutch champion was in an artificial coma for two days, but his doctors expect that he will be able to make a full recovery.
