Remco Evenepoel took the lead in the classification on Saturday with a victory in the queen stage in the Tour of Poland. The Belgian top talent completed a solo of 50 kilometers.
Evenepoel had a short lead of two minutes over Jakob Fuglsang after the 153 kilometer stage on a rolling course, with start and finish in Bukowina. Simon Yates finished third.
The leader of Deceuninck-Quick-Step dedicated his victory to Fabio Jakobsen, who had fallen hard on Wednesday. He held up the Dutch champion's jersey number as he crossed the line.
Evenepoel took off alone at 50 kilometers from the finish and quickly took a one-minute lead over the peloton. Fuglsang, Rafal Majka and Yates escaped from it. They approached Evenepoel up to half a minute, but he could not be seized and only extended his lead further.
The twenty-year-old Belgian will take over the yellow jersey from Richard Carapaz, who had won the third stage on Friday. The last stage is scheduled for Sunday.
For Evenepoel it is already his eighth victory of the season. He has already won the rankings of the Tour of San Juan, the Tour of the Algarve and the Tour of Burgos. If he also wins the Tour of Poland, he has won all the races so far, where he starts.
