Tiril Eckhoff has suffered from a severe urinary tract infection. The six-time World Cup gold medalist has already missed the acclaimed competition Lysebotn Opp and now the star also misses Friday's Blinkfestival. In the podcast "Kant Ut" which she has together with national team colleague Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, the biathlete now talks about the drama behind the absence.

- I became acutely nauseous, vomited and then I do not remember more until I wake up when Ragnar (the national team's physiotherapist, editor's note) saves me, says Tiril Eckhoff.

"It's a vicious circle"

According to national team coach Sverre Waaler Kaas, Eckhoff has recovered well after the drama.

- It was dramatic here and there, but it was very painful. It's hard to imagine but it's a real infection that really hurts. Then the body says stop and has to take a break to fix itself a bit. Then she recovered very well and had to sleep afterwards, says Waaler Kaas to NRK.

Tiril Eckhoff says that the two missed competitions are a precaution not to risk more competitions this autumn.

- It is a vicious circle, that you get it again and again and again and never get completely healthy. After all, there are only three months left until the start of the season and I want good training in the future as well. I'm not interested in getting sick again.
